Hera to the Vet

Posted by Saint Lover

Hera went to the vet this morning. The vet thinks the other vet that told me it was a ureter problem is full of crap. So we did a urinalysis and some blood showed up in her urine. She pee’d twice outside, filled her diaper and sat down in the lobby and the whole thing emptied again. I took her outside, she pee’d more and then again for the vet tech to grab a sample. And we aren’t talking little dribbles… it was a full on bladder evac EACH time. So the vet wanted to do a blood work up to make sure she wasn’t having kidney issues as well with the massive production of diluted urine. The blood work came back normal and the urinalysis showed blood and some white cells. She put her on Clavamox (cha ching cha ching $$) and Proin. The visit cost me $172 Sad But it gave me some piece of mind knowing there is hope for her. The vets thinks there should be marked difference in her peeing with in a week to two. If at the end of the month no change or little change she will try something else (cant remember what it was called – was 3 initials and not HRT). She has lost another 2 pounds since last year. But it was 2 months earlier in the summer and she is soooo active in the summer I am sure that made the difference. She has a voracious appetite and it isn’t like she isn’t getting enough food. The vet thought she looked perfect and didn’t want me to increase her food intake.

Fingers crossed that the combination of the drugs will help her out. She is a great dog, I love her dearly, BUT the pee’ing is SOOO bad and I am at my wits end.

I hope the clavamox does the trick. Sad to think it may have been a simple infection all along. :(

Oh Hera, best wishes and I hope the Clavamox helps (Lucy just finished a series of Clavamox herself).
