The big move – one week later

Posted by Saint Lover

I haven’t been around much this past week or so. We sold our house and moved to the suburbs. Yes, the suburbs!!! No fenced yard and lots of noise. Well, I have been really busy packing, moving and unpacking and have found some very unpleasant things along the way. I dont want to bore you since you are here to read about dog stuff, but let me just say this – when houses sit vacant over and Ohio winter, they MUST be winterized. That is all the water needs to be drained from the pipes. Having said that, this house was not and we have dealt with some really nasty water issues all week – broken pipes, fixtures and fittings all over AND water pouring from the ceiling!

The dogs are doing soooo well with the transition. I was terrified it was not going to go well. I expected them to bark and genuinely go nuts nonstop. The first day or so was a bit much for Hera and everyone barked at everything that went by. But now we are on a walking routine and they are quite content to lay about. B and R already have their own favorite spots. They seem to like laying on the landing between the first and second floors… I keep trying to catch pictures of them, but I’m not quick enough.

I am finally settled enough that I will be able to sit down and catch up with my blog reading and posting. I have been jonesing.. lol. Running around like a headless chicken does not suit me, I am ready for some serious lazy time :) I’ve missed everyone and can’t wait to catch up!

sounds a bit of a nightmare – it will be fab when you’re all sorted. At least the dogs seam to have settled in and taken the move all in their stride!

I haven’t been around for two weeks or so. I was on business trip and haven’t been back until yesterday. Oh I really don’t like business trip but don’t have any choice.

Anyway, now I am back and I can check your blog often

The new house is nice. Congratulations and good luck with the new home.

Oh I do feel for you…I dont mind packing to go, but once there I’m over it, especially living out of boxes…the water pipe story is awful, it must be full on chaos for you…

but the dogs are settled, how will you go without fences?

I’m always amazed at how well dogs adjust to new surroundings. I guess because their needs are so wonderfully simple, not having to worry about such things as running water.

We sold our house and they wanted quick occupancy.. didn’t give us much time to get things together. But we weren’t going to risk loosing the sale.

Thanks Amiga… so far (other than the water issues) we are really enjoying being here.

Oh Maggie and Mitch.. the ceiling is ruined :( But you are right! At least it wasn’t the dead of winter.

  13. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Thanks Vicki.. the dogs really have taken it in stride. I dont think they care where they are since they have their toys and we are here.

Welcome back from your business trip. I hope you got to do some fun stuff while traveling and it wasnt all hard work. Thanks for stopping by and hope to see more of you :)

No more pond Zoo… its sad, but I think I like the dogs dry better than wet for some reason.. lol. They will be able to get into the pool so it isnt a total loss. And that water is “clean”

Thanks Lindsay.. today has been a full out laundry day. Things are settling in and the dogs are enjoying the extra space in the house. I think they like touring the neighborhood on their walks too.

I totally agree Abby.. its like the adrenaline runs out as soon as the last box gets off the truck. I wanted to lay down and sleep for a week, not walk dogs and haul boxes here and there. But its starting to come together.

Jan -Running water was high on their priority list too.. they drink 6 gallons of water a day between them. I was buying a buggy full of bottled water every day we didn’t have the water on. But as long as that drinkwell was running they were happy as clams.

I cannot believe you guys moved? Closer to us, or further away? I almost told you that whenever you sold your house to call my husband & I so we could have first dibs on it…but I figured that would be years from now! I knew that Roxy & Bocephus would LOVE it there! Not as much as Bo loved your treats, of course!! Bocephus is doing very well, and since your visit we have made GREAT accomodations for him! We have re-fallen in love with his sweetness and have decided to “see through” our commitment to him! With our new wood fence and outside kennel to do his “business” in, things are going much better/easier. He just got groomed at Petsmart…I love the girls there, and he smells so good and looks so handsome! I just wanted to give you our update, and to let you know you do not need to worry about him…we are now keeping him for forever! Thank you for re-kindeling our love for our big Saint! Good luck in your new place… & ohhhh, how I wish I lived in your old one!

You guys have your very own pool? I am SOOOOO jealous!!! We’re getting ready to sell our house and get a new one. I wonder if I’ll get a pool, too.

I am sooo happy to hear this! I have tears in my eyes. I think about Bo often and have wondered about where he is. You definitely made the right decision keeping him. He is a beautiful dog and soo sweet. Congrats on making the right decision. I bet he looks gorgeous after her groom. Tell him is auntie Lora loves him and will think of him always.

We moved further away from you, we are in New Albany now. I
