Tick season is upon us

I found the first nasty bugger today. I knew it wouldn’t be long until they reared their nasty little blood sucking heads since we have had a couple of consecutive sunny days in the 70°s. I always dread April. April showers… try April ticks. They are everywhere! Even with Frontline on the dogs I still seem to find them. I guess that is one of the downsides of living rural on acreage that has alot of mature vegetation. They fall from the trees are in the brush.. ugg! Today I found one on ME! It fell out of the trees on me when I went to my car. I about had a conniption.

I don’t Frontline my guys from about October til tick season starts in early April.. I hate the idea of chemicals on them. But around here, we have no choice in the spring. It will last about 2 months then it will die down and we wont see any of the disgusting little buggers until the next spring. So, needless to say everyone got their Frontline doses tonight.

    We wear Frontline too! Mom starts it in March and it doesn’t stop until the ground freezes firm! So far we haven’t seen a tick yet but it’s only a matter of time! UGH! They’re such nasty little creatures!

    This has been the first week it has been warm enough for them. The trees are budding leaves and that means tick season! blach!

    We live on 3.5 acres and a lot of it is woods and wetland. I pulled one off Cameron and two from Ferris’ face. I love the remote and quiet, but you are right, that is a downside. meh.

    I found a dead one on Rufus yesterday.. it was tangled in his fur. Thank goodness I frontlined! Rural woods and wetlands are the worst.. tick haven.

    Oh goodness.. I bet you do down there in the bayou. Need to be religious with Heartguard too with all the mosquitoes down there too..

    We are just coming out of tick season, but we also check year round. I’m near the bush and its just not worth taking a chance here. We are told to periodically change brands of protection here, so i use frontline and advantix
