Garage Sales = Petting

Posted by Saint Lover

On our walk this morning we came upon a garage sale in the neighborhood.  Brutus, Rufus and Apollo (I braved walking the 3 together) could hardly contain their excitement and pulled me straight there.  They spied kids!  And kids mean getting loving and pets.  A little, maybe 2 years old max, rushed up to them much to chagrin of his mother.  She screamed “no!  Dont!” and I assured her they are very friendly and love children.  Reluctantly she lets her son proceed to hug and pet the boys.  They stood there and soaked up the attention like champs.  The mother was very impressed how they allowed her son to pet them.  She said, my goodness they are so big (like I hadn’t really noticed.. bwahaha) it scared me and thanked me for letting her son meet them.

Ahh… my boys are the people’s princes..

Ha, I’m impressed you’re able to walk three at once! My friend has a great dane, and at least once a week someone says “Oh my! She’s sooo big!” I guess you must get used to people’s reactions.

Wow, you actually managed to walk the three huge stooges. I bet they dragged you there. BOL! Those kids are really brave. Many kids I know are sooo scared of us & we are no where close as big as Rufus or Brutus.

I always get comments on Chels, I say ‘she’s just a pup yet’ …I would love eventually to have 2 danes…but I just cant see me being able to walk two… I dont mind people petting Chels but im wary with kids as so many dont know how to approach a dog and wave their hands around…she then thinks its a game…ur 3 would of loved the attention…x

Lindsay, I can walk a total of 5 at once. If Rufus wasn’t so stinky I could take all 6 at once, but it does take alot out of me. I enjoy walking them in pairs much better. Its bonding time for us, while I walk away the pounds.

Amber, it seems like the parents are more afraid of the dogs than the kids are. Such a shame. We look like a traveling freak show so we do get lots of gawkers. Luckily all like dogs like kids, alot.

MissJessixa – Its something I have had to work one and have taken alot of time training them..

You got that right Laura… they are attention and petting hounds!

Thanks Amiga… it makes it alot easier to take them out places when they behave. I feel bad for dogs that don’t like people/kids, they are missing out on tons of good hugs and kisses.
