Good-Bye Coby – thank goodness!
Well, supposedly today is Coby’s last day roaming our neighborhood. I saw him running around all day yesterday and couldn’t be bothered with him as I wasn’t feeling well. Today however I opened the door to get the paper that the little paperboy tossed on my porch. He was delivering throughout the neighborhood and as he walked away Coby appeared from between two houses and charged after the little boy barking his fool head off.
So I go back inside and grab a leash and collar and head out after him. The little boy asks me if he is my dog and I say no and he points to him heading down the street AWAY from his house. Shes up growling at a golden retriever that is in his invisible fence and then heads across the street to the MinPin’s house and is peeing all over their bushes. I call him and he comes running. I lasso him up and head back to his house. His owner is standing in the yards swinging her kids… she sees me coming says thanks, takes him from me and lets him go again. OMG! I shot her the dirtiest look ever! She proceeds to tell me that he is leaving tomorrow for her sister’s house where he is going to reside. The whole time I am thinking what ever, we’ll see! She constantly blames her kids for him running around but if truth be told she lets him out because she doesnt want to deal with him. In the past two days alone I have seen him running around for hours on end. I have taken him home 5 times in the last week.
Here’s the kicker, I say “He’s such a good dog, I’d hate to see him get hit by a car or for someone to call the pound on him” she gets snotty with me and says ‘I told you he’s leaving tomorrow!” Hmmmm, how much do you want to bet I see him out roaming on Saturday!
Wow, incredible! What kind of mother is she to blame her own children for the irresponsibility of their dog??? I think she needs to go to the pound instead. Sheesh!

Amber it’s so sad. She isn’t fit to be a mother let alone have a dog too. I hope he gets to his new how with out an incident and will be taken care of much better than he is now.
I know Lindsay.. I feel absolutely terrible for him. The dog knows no better, he’s allowed to run amok and has no idea what danger he poses or could get him. I swear that woman wants something to happen to him so she doesn’t have to deal with him.
owners ought to take more responsibility for their dogs. although i find your story so amusing, i hate to think of whatever might happen to Coby if he is left to his antics..

That lady is cuckoo and I hope Coby does get to a new home soon to be safe. That lady just doesn’t care and poor Coby is suffering. She was too rude to you. I agree with Amber-Mae and that lady needs to be sent to teh pound!

I couldnt agree more Mango. How can people not think about the enormous responsibility dog ownership/guardianship/companionship requires when they are thinking about getting a dog… Oh wait, these people dont think about getting dogs, they just get them on the spur of the moment whim.

I drove into the neighborhood this afternoon and he was out again. At least he was at his house still, I could see him staring in the back door waiting to be let back in. It breaks my heart. I cant imagine what must be going through his mind. My dogs would be devastated if I didnt care about them.
Spoiled… lets hope the sister is a better owner than she is.
Sew Crazy – this woman cant keep tabs on her skin kids either. I see them running around the neighborhood. It’s pretty safe here, but they are way too young to be wandering. This woman needs to pull her head out of her butt!
I hope so too Peanut. It would be a shame if she just takes him to the shelter. But I figure she would have already done it if that was her plan. I am hoping he has a much better life.
