“pee-yew” – I KNOW that smell!

Posted by Saint Lover

I am sitting here on the computer getting ready to go to bed. The dogs have been out, fed and are waiting for me to take them to bed. Then it hits… a little subtle at first, Iam thinking oooh they have nasty gas. Then it gets stronger… hmmm someone must have had an accident! NOPE… it gets stronger and OMG I start sniffing the dogs – I know this smell and it isnt pretty.

Now my nose is burning! I go to the front door and open it. Its outside, can you guess what it is? We had a “run in” with “it” in December 2006. B and R lost and I smelled “it” for months! Thats right, “it’s” a SKUNK! Its wandered in to the neighborhood and is stinking up the place. I had to have been right under my window to have smelled that bad!

Make it go away! Unless your dog has ever been skunked, you just dont “know” how awful it is. Those little buggers pack a mean punch. I never ever want to go through that again. Hopefully this retched little creature won’t set up shop out front and will mosey its way somewhere else. Preferably far, far away.

My nose is still burning!

Nastiness!!! Only time skunk is smelled around here is on the highway, as road kill (thank goodness it’s not around here!)

Hope it takes up residence somewhere else

My dog’s never been skunked either. Do you really put tomato sauce on a dog to get rid of the smell, or is that just something I’ve heard that’s not true?

Amiga, so much worse than beans you can’t imagine!

Trust me Maggie and Mitch (and their mom and dad) you don’t want to be skunked. It is Mother Natures sick and cruel joke to canines and their owners.

    The stench lasts for MONTHS!

Shannon, be thankful you don’t have skunks. They are vile stinky creatures. I am hoping he never comes back here!

Lindsay, there is NOTHING that takes away the smell. Tomatoe juice is a joke, it does nothing. You can use a mixture of baking soda and peroide apparently but it will bleach out the dogs coat and you sill have the smell. There’s a few commerical products too.

Honestly about the only thing that really works is time and shedding out the fur that was sprayed.

My Grandpa Angus the Airedale got skunked and he was stinky every time he got wet for months!

Mango, when Brutus and Rufus got skunked it was also MONTHS and MONTHS before the smell went away. Every time they got wet (which was everyday with the pond) it would reactivate the stink… Eventually they did their coat blow and the affected hair blew out, but until that time it was borderline unbearable. Our house and my car smelled so bad. I dont wish it on my worst enemy.

Ugh, skunks smell the worst. I was walking through a field that smelled like skunk one night (skunk must have farted sometime b4 i got there) and it smelled so bad. My mind was swimming and i was dizzy, and it just smelled so bad. Skunk funk, PEE-YEW!

    PEE-YEW!
My boyfriend had a pet skunk that he didn’t get de-scented and it sprayed me once! He didn’t mind the smell and he said he liked it. I was so stinky for at least a month that at points I even had to hold my nose because I couldn’t stand myself. Phew, worst smell ever. Pee-yew!!!
