Saint Bernard Whiskey Keg Barrels

Posted by Saint Lover

Happy Memorial Day Everyone

I have hmmm-hawed around for a LONG time wanting to get Saint Bernard barrels for the boys. Its kind of a long standing joke about my husband supposedly getting them for me for every holiday for the past 2 years. Well, every time I take them for a walk or to an event I always hear (at least once, but usually 5 or 6 times) “where’s his barrel”. In fact I get that a lot more often than “where’s the saddle” or “wow that is a big dog.”

I have searched the internet several times and have found a couple of different sources. Since I need two, it gets a bit pricey. I found a guy in Indiana that makes them and sells them on his Ebay Store for a fraction of the price of some of the other makers and there is no long wait time for them to be sent out. So I bought two Saint Bernard barrels for the boys and am going to try them out. If I don’t like them, well I will just have to shell out the big bucks for the really nice ones. I am having fancy neck straps made for the barrels by The Sew Crazy Dog Lady. Now I just have to decide what pattern.

Sami & Baylee’s mom here-I too have been looking for Baylee a barrel. Are you getting a matching neck straps just like R & B’s collars? I must say …I think I might order the girls matching collars. I just have to figure out which pattern I like the best! I would love to see pictures of R & B with their new barrels on when they get them! I bet they will just look adorable in them!

    Happy Memorial Day!

Hi Amy.. Baylee would look adorable in a barrel! This guy’s barrels come with straps, thin ones and not that nice, but they do come with them. I am going to have the new ones made by The Sew Crazy Dog Lady like what the collars are. If you look on her site, there is a gallery with all the fabric choices. There are a ton! And she adds more all the time. I haven’t decided what fabric covering I want for them but have my eyes on a couple. With the money you’ll save on the barrel You’ll be able to get matching collars for the girls too! I am really impressed with the daisy ones and there are some really cute ones on there. Let me know what you decide to order. As soon as the barrels come I will post pictures immediately :)

Can’t wait to see you with those barrels. Maybe it will reduce the “you should put a saddle on that thing” comments.

LOL… Jan, If I could just find a pack that would fit the big lugs, they’d carry my keys and purse too ;)

Lol Mango, But I am afraid it will increase them. If they can’t comment about about the barrels.. Im sure they will default to the saddle.. lol

Huggs, Everyone.. Just wanted to share that we rescued a Saint Bernard that was terribly abused, it took me three weeks to even get close to her, finally one day she followed me home ,saw me playing with our other dogs, She gave a deep bark!! like saying Please let me in!! So opened the gate and she came in.. We have just had her spayed, but bless her heart she is so afraid of people so we are still working with, her name is Bella and she is a sweetheart, even though my husband and I are in our 70′splus, there was no way, we could see that beauitful girl run the streets.. So Many Blessings to all of you who have a Saint Bernard they are wonderful dogs!!! love her so much

Hi. I just bought a keg for our 6 month saint, and at first was very happy with its looks.. No curing instructions came with the keg and when I saw the first ring fall off and noticed the wood shrinking (after having it 3 weeks) I asked maker of keg what to do. She told me how to cure keg, and it has been a nightmare. It stll leaks and I have been following her directions for 2 weeks now. Only some of it leaks, but nonetheless, leaks. Is there any way to buy a keg already cured? Or one that automatically holds liquid? Or possibly a keg maker that makes a keg easier to cure, than the one I bought from Maine. (k-9 kids). It came in a very timely fashion, and does look fabulous, but the curing is,,,,, not working. Thanks, Spellgirl
