Bark Park #5

Posted by Saint Lover

Ahhhh what a glorious day! Gabby the greyhound showed up at our house around 8:45am. The greetings were unceremonious for the most part. Brutus was a bit put off at first but quickly came to his senses and remembered Gabby is his good buddy. We left the house shortly after her arrival for a wonderful day at Bark Park. Apollo and Hera were the only dogs of mine to make the trip today. My car won’t hold much more than 3 dogs in the back and since my son went with me there was no more room. I tried fitting Zeus in and Gabby snarled because the other dogs were stepping on her. Next time.

We played for hours! The weather was beautiful and the shade was very nice. Gabby was done after a short time and found a nice cool place to lay in the shade. Every now and again you would see her streak by with another sight hound and lap the park with a sudden burst of energy. But most of the time she looked like this:

OR THIS

Hera on the other hand spent a good portion of her day running around barking at dragon flies. Today several other park goers saw the dragonflies she was chasing and now she is no longer considered insane… lol She got brave and jumped in the air for a few of them this time.

Apollo ran the agility course a few times with Zach. He wasn’t as interested today. I think Zach waited until he was too tired to really enjoy it. He has remembered everything he has learned so far and even braved the teeter totter today.. He made a new friend today too.. He played with this male lab for ages and they both seemed to really like those little rubber duckies. They tugged on one and never scuffled. What a cute pair they made.

Our good friends George and Betty were our guests today and they brought Apollo’s friends Maggie and Joely up to play as well. Its been a long time since we have seen them.

Of course the Newfies and some of the Danes were there today. I took lots of pictures of them which can be seen in today’s gallery. I think these two are my favorite ones.

I ended up taking over 225 pictures in all.. which is surprising since my hubby had to meet me with my camera battery. I put it in the charger last night and thats where it stayed when I left for the park… ugg. Not all of my pictures turned out, but I put alot of the ones that did into todays Bark Park Gallery in the Photo Gallery Page which you can reach HERE. Make sure you stop by and see all the gorgeous doggies we met today. (Don’t forget to click on the pictures above to enable lightbox)

    Hey Saint Lover!

That Bark Park looks like a ton of fun! I just got back from my first weekend with my humans AT A HOTEL! We went to Washington DC, which doesn’t have many fenced dog runs around but there are lots of dogs and sometimes they get to play off-lead in the middle of these traffic circle parks! It’s a little scary, my mom didn’t let me off the leash one bit. :( But anyway, that’s why we didn’t add you to our blogroll til today. My Mom has been lurking on your site before.

My Mommy had a St. Bernard/German Shepherd mix when she was growing up so she has a special place in her heart for the Saints. May May looked like a slightly leaner Saint – with all the markings and only a little less drooly. We think that’s why she loves big fluffy dogs.

we went to the dog park today too and there was a beautiful great dane named jazzy, elegant gentle and gray, i think stranger had a bit of a crush on her, he’d keep running under her, partly for shade partly for courtship

i could watch dogs play for days

Sounds like an awesome time Biggie-Z. Traveling is always fun with your dog. I hope there are pictures on your blog… I’m going to have to run over and check them out.

  24. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Cynthia..its about a 20 minute drive there. I can “physically” fit all six in the car and if there was a disaster you better believe they’d all be piled in there. When we moved I loaded them all up at the same time to get them here. Apollo and Brutus in front seat and Rufus, Hera, Eris and Zeus in the back.. we got some looks! They were laying all over each other.

Gabby is a diva and snarks and snaps if another dog even comes near her in the backseat. She had to wear her greyhound racing muzzle or I would have put Zeus back there and just made her deal with it. But I didnt want any drama in the back seat.

  25. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Awesome Amgia! Watching dogs play is one of my favorite things too. Aweeee Stranger… has a girlfriend ;)

  26. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Thanks Nanook and Pooka… There’s a pair of Newf girls that come every week. I just adore them. I was lucky enough to get some up close and personal time with them this week. :) I hope they are there on Friday night.

  29. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Thank you Tammy.. we had an amazing time. I think those are some of the best pictures I have taken or seen of Gabby… her mom isnt much of a shutter bug.

  30. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Thanks “Dainty Dane” – and Kendra… there is NOTHING Dainty about that girl of yours…..

Hera is a real piece of work…. she’s something else in person a real social butterfly.
