Monday Blues… and then….

Posted by Saint Lover

I stared my day to the sound of herk herk herk herk and blapppt! GROSSSS – RUFUS!!!!!! So I had to clean my bedroom carpet. What a way to start the day… oh then it gets worse. Apollo, Zeus, Brutus AND Rufus all have the runs! Apollo has blood in his poo… not a lot, but enough for me to be concerned and keep an eye on him. He hasn’t been his normal bubbly self either. After I fed them breakfast, Rufus pukes it up. My poor babies! I don’t know if they ate something that didn’t agree with them, they have contracted a tummy bug or the heat is getting to them. It has been over 90 for 3 days. So I boiled 3 pounds of hamburger and a bag of rice for their dinners/breakfasts. I just hope they are feeling better tomorrow.

On a lighter note, opened the pool today! WHOO HOO! The water is still a little murky but it should clear up in a few days. The dogs had mixed reactions to it. Eris had NO desire to get in and ran inside. Brutus and Rufus ran around the pool zoomie style and played. I coaxed ok I pulled them in and they were NOT impressed one bit! I don’t anticipate them getting in again, shame. But Apollo, Hera and Zeus had a BALL! They jumped in after tennis balls and a plastic football. Hera barked her fool head off and I had to send her inside so the neighbors wouldn’t call the police…lol.

And then…. I found out I am featured on PETSblog as the first ever dog blog of the month! They did a wonderful write up on me and the kiddos! I am sooo unbelievably flattered! You should cruise over there and check out this fantastic blog. Its very informative and well written with a range of topics that is appealing to animal lovers far and wide.

I think I told you that three of the crew had horrible runs, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting for several days. 20 pounds of chicken and 10 pounds of rice later, they are finally better…..2 weeks later!!! But now it’s Willow’s turn with the liquid diarrhea  She’s been getting pumpkin in her food and it has helped a bit. I sum it up to be a horrible stomach bug that raged through this house!!! Blech! But one thing I can say is thank goodness for hardwood floors

Seriously, 2 whole weeks! Thats a nasty bug. I hope Willow doesn’t get it too bad. I’ll keep you posted with my boys.

Congratulations Lora! We love reading your blog too! Oh Baylee says that she can see why they did the write up on R & B because they are so handsome!

I hope the doggie feel better soon. Sami and Baylee just got over the poops and some pretty bad smelling gas..they were checked for giardia but the test said they didn’t have it. Then again the reseach I read online that it is hard to detect and they gave them the same meds that treat it. They did ask in I have seen blood. It appears to be going around here at the dogpark which I took Sami too. I haven’t taken her since. I know she misses it. I hope they get better soon.

    Have a nice day,
    Amy

Oh man, Ace would love a pool like that. I hope to have one some day. Do Brutus and Rufus like the water? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Saint Bernard swimming. That would be something!

One of the reasons Ace doesn’t get human food is because I worry he’ll get sick from it, and I don’t want to deal with that. I don’t know if that’s what made your dogs sick or not though.

  13. KaosNo Gravatar

I want a pool!!!! Every lab should have their own private pool!!!!! I hope everybody’s tummies feel better soon. My mom said she remembered when her Mom’s Saint would get sick and as soon as my mom heard the horka noise she ran to her room and shut the door because she knew it was going to be gross.

Thanks George, the dogs seem to be feeling much better. I however am not. UGGG I hate being sick.. Thanks for the nice sentiments. I am heading over to check out your new galleries now!

  19. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Amiga.. thanks, nope, no maters. I saw a sign at Mc Donalds the other day about the tomatoes… how scary.

  20. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Hey Dex… you would have a blast in the pool! Hopefully the neighbors will come through with their offer and you can spend some time “hanging out poolside”

  21. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Thanks Tammy… I think kitty puke smells way worse than dog puke. So you have every right to complain and whine about it. Kitty puke is nasty.

  22. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Amy, i hope your kiddos are feeling better and get over their squits too. We seem to be ok so far around here. I am hoping it was just a upset to something they ate.

  23. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Lindsay, Brutus and Rufus LOVE water.. they swam all the time in our pond. I don’t know why they were so opposed to it in the pool. If you look back at some of my earlier entries and you can see lots of pictures of them in the water. Just no video sadly.

  24. RuthieNo Gravatar

Congrats on being featured on PetsBlog! Your dogs are beautiful and it’s easy to see that they’re very special. The pool looks pretty cool from where I’m sitting too. :) Oh well, since there’s no pool here, I’ll just have to content myself with the air conditioner, and a good book. If you’re interested, I’m reading Life to the Max by Robin Reynolds about her dog Max, his life, and his insights into the human condition.

  25. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Thank you Ruthie! I’ll have to check that book out!

    These are absolutely gorgeous pictures.
I want to see these pics as oil paintings! Is that too sentimental?
Look at those sweet faces. . . I feel like I now have a definition for bliss.

Thanks for stopping by Marya and checking us out. I do adore my kiddos and I have thought about having a painting done of them. I just haven’t found the right artist yet. (or had the extra cash to have it done  ) I am glad you like them.

Hope to see you around again.
