Atomic Pool Dogs

Rufus FINALLY got in the pool today. We have had a major break through. He needs a little coaxing to get off the stairs, but will actually do it by himself. I am so proud of him. Brutus however, is still a scaredy cat. I hope you enjoy the video of my Atomic Pool Dogs and photos….

Rufus you look so cool in the pool! You’re very brave, I don’t think I would be that brave. I won’t even hardily go in our little kiddie pool when it is filled with water!

hahaha Maggie and Mitch.. I was thinking the same thing. He was so funny in the pool. I dont know if you could tell or not but I was IN with him holding the camera. I though for sure he would claw me but he didnt. It was really a cool experience.

I am shocked it has taken this long Baylee.. they LOVE the water and would get in the pond EVERY SINGLE day at the old house. They would even break the ice to get in it when it started getting cold. I just can’t figure out what the difference is. Silly boys.
That’s great! Do Saint’s typically like to swim. Rufus looks like he’s having a blast. Just curious again … is your pool chlorine or salt water? And do people ever use it too?

Sophie.. there’s chlorine in the pool and yes we use it too. In fact, I am actually [b]IN[/b] the pool filming Rufus. And several of the pictures were taken by me IN the pool. There’s a hose to rinse you off right after you get out so the chlorine doesn’t dry on the fur.
I think Sock Monkey would do just fine at our house. Just make sure Hera doesn’t get too much personal time with it or it may need some reconstructive surgery.
I think it depends on which lines the Saint Bernard comes from. Every saint I have ever had in rescue has LOVED to swim in the pond but there are some that don’t like water. The boys are really amazing swimmers too. They can swim as fast as my labs… they really book in the water.
Lindsay.. Rufus can give those labs a run for their money..
This is GREAT!!! Biggie swam for real for the first time this past weekend too. He decided he couldn’t lifeguard effectively from the edge of the pond, so he came out to check us out. And he is really FAST! Our video isn’t nearly as good, though – my goofy sis couldn’t find the “zoom” key…
Next time I am going to have to get the camera in the water too because the pup BLOWS BUBBLES when he sticks his nose in. It is the funniest thing.

Misty and Gabby are now after me for a pool in our yard. The Toys-R-Us wading pools are not making it for these big Girls!
That’s a big wet dog. BTW do people ever get in that pool or is it just for the dogs to play in? It looks like SO much fun!

OMG Biggie.. I would die to see you blowing bubbles in the water! That sounds absolutely adorable. Brutus and Rufus love swimming in the pond/lake but for what ever reason have been very leery of the pool. I am glad Rufus has gotten in (well, Brutie has too, but we won’t count that as he was not pleased) discovered the joy of swimming again.
Bev, i can’t think of two girl more deserving of a pool in their yard! I am about to break down and buy a kiddie pool for Butus. Its supposed to be 90 today and 92 tomorrow!

Christy… people absolutely get in the pool. In fact I am IN the pool taking most of that video and all but twol of the pictures. Its really fun swimming with them. Thank goodness for a super duper filter system!

Giruff.. its going to be HOT HOT HOT today and tomorrow. Its supposed to be 33°C (92°F) today… I bet I can manage to get Brutus in if he’s outside for any amount of time. Still want that weather?
Our new house has an acre of land. I’m working really hard on convincing Mom and Dad I need a pool. So far they aren’t going for it. Doesn’t look like those boots are affecting any jumping, leaping or swimming.

Cynthia.. Saints actually LOVE water! I dont know why he isn’t getting in the pool. I couldn’t keep them out of the pond. Seriously the first thing they did everyday was get in the water. Totally puzzled by it to be honest.
