Patriotic Flair & Ouchies
I have been quite busy this week since the car episode. I have had to play catch up today on my blog readings and still have to catch up on my comment responses, sorry I have been so lax. Hopefully this week will run smoother.
I went swimming with Apollo, Zeus and Hera today. They jumped and dove after the balls and were generally having a good time until I noticed the blood coming from Apollo’s back foot. OH NO! So I grab him and take a look at what he has done to himself. I was afraid of a torn nail after what I went through with Brutus last year. Luckily all nails were still attached. He has managed to grind down several of them to their quicks from launching himself off the pool decking. I checked Hera and her nails were getting worn too but not as badly as Apollo’s so I will watch her, but have to order Apollo boots for his back feet. I looked around on some forums and found some fancy neoprene booties for his back feet to try out. I have to measure his back paws and order them. I swear it is always something. (they are on sale at the Neo-Paws™ website and they ship the same day if ordered 3:00pm EST – which means he will have them for Bark Park on Saturday! whooo hooo!)

You can see WHY Apollo’s nails are so ground down.. He REALLY gets into the jumping.
I LOVE this picture, he jumped 2/3 the way across the pool ontop of Hera to get that ball… “Look out Hera, that ball is MINE!”
As I mentioned earlier, I ordered patriotic collars from the Sew Crazy Dog Lady for Brutus and Rufus. I’ve been a bad dog mommy and haven’t had much of a chance to post the pictures of them with all the festivities going on. We are not in a very patriotic mood with all the fireworks trauma but oh well. However, I am sooo pleased with the new collars. I am an Army veteran (I am sure most of you don’t know that) and I wanted to have something special for the boys that showed support for out troops. They look sooo handsome in them and I got a ton of compliments on them when we went to Indianapolis (I forgot to mention that B and R rode with us on Thursday). I took off their other collars and tossed them in the wash and hung them up to dry. I can not believe how well they washed up. They looked brand spanking new again! Can’t beat the quality! Well with out further ado… here are my handsome boys in their Patriotic Yellow Ribbon collars
I have another surprise for later this week… my Pirate collars came and OMG they look amazing! Better than i could have ever dreamed! Thanks Jen! You are the best, well second to your collars… lol Don’t forget to head over to Sew Crazy Dog Lady’s website and check it out. She currently has a drawing to win a FREE collar! I hope I win…
Just a side note… but where in the world is all this spam coming from?! I mean seriously. I have had very low spam counts since I stared using hosting my blog and with in the last 36 hours I have had more spam comments caught by Askimet than the rest of the time combined! UGGG!

Ouchies! Biggie used to play so hard in the asphalt dog run that his feet would bleed too. Needless to say, we don’t have to trim his nails much at all. Those neoprene booties sure look stylish – but in order to acccessorize properly, shouldn’t the new collar match the shoes?

Good point Biggie! I hadn’t even thought of that and I can think of just about any excuse for a new collar….Thanks! They have saddle bags that match too….
Poor Apollo, it sounds painful, but I’ll bet he enjoys his sexy new footwear.

Jan.. you’d think he would be laying down refusing to walk… but it hasn’t phased him in the least. I wonder just how far he would have ground them down before he stopped.
Aiyaiyai! That sounds really painful but looks like Apollo didn’t seem to feel the pain as he was having so much fun to realize it. Hehehe! The new collars are nice.

Hi Lora, the new collars are great! As for the shoes, we looked at getting some for our boy, they really are sensible. I hope your entering the pawlympics with some of your wonderful diving shots and bark park.
Love Pooky (George’s Mum)
Ace easily wears his nails down in the winter when he chases a ball on the snow and ice. He made both back paws bleed within ten minutes one time. I felt so bad because I hadn’t noticed quicker, but he didn’t seem to notice either, even though he bled and bled! I bought him boots as well. He hates wearing the boots, so I’m wondering how Apollo will do with them. Ace can’t get his off, but he runs funny in them. The first time he wore them he stood there like his feet were stuck in concrete. It was like he thought he couldn’t move his feet!

Apollo needs to try SplashDogs! (name is just a coincidence!) He’s a natural!
Check it out: SplashDogs.com — rock the dock!

We hope the booties work. We want to thank you for your service. Mom loves those collars. She says we need some that look like that before dad comes home from Iraq.
Thanks for stopping by and checking us out Splash. I have thought about trying our hand at dock diving. This jumping thing is completely new in the last few weeks so we havent really had time to cultivate it yet. I hope to see you around, thanks for your comment.
Peanut, I think we can accommodate that… when is dad supposed to come home?
Lindsay, he walked funny for the first few minutes too and was very apprehensive about everything. He quickly got used to it and they didnt bother him at all. They fit alot better than the muttluks we have and are not as irritating to the paws. You may want to look into them. They are a little pricey but defiantly worth it in my opinion.
Pooky, with the exchange rate they are very reasonable indeed. You could get a set for all 4′s for around 30 quid!
Thanks Amiga!
Thanks Amber Mae – the nails never did bother him even with all the blood. I fully expected him to limp the rest of the day and he never once even licked them. Such a little trooper.
