Wag Fest
Since there was no Bark Park to go to today we had to find something else to do. So we decided to head on over to the Prairie Oaks Metro Park for Wag Fest. I was absolutely shocked how many people and dogs were in and out of the little festival. The program pamphlet says there were over 7000 people and 2000 dogs that passed through last year and they expected to top that this year. It was pretty packed when we were there so it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if attendance was up from last year.
The whole family went and we took Brutus with us. I thought about taking Rufus too, but I wasn’t sure what to expect. Boy am I sorry I didn’t bring him. It was a Saint Fest! There were at least 8 other saints there, most of them in pairs. I haven’t seen that many saints in one place, ever! My son had my camera and he was the “designated photographer” of the day. I did get thee pictures before he took over…
Brutus sporting his whiskey barrel - how studly
With his favorite boy
Brutus with his new Girly Friend Duncan. We hope to see her again at Bark Park.
Its the three stooges… This pair lives together. A 5 yo male and 1 yo female.
Look at this scrumptious boy… My son must have been in love! He desperately wants an English Mastiff.
Brutus got in the water as far as his leash would allow and he was in heaven. It’s been quite some time since he has had a proper swim. I think I am going to try and take him and Rufus to Big Walnut Park or Alum Creek to swim sometime this week. I was a little too afraid to let him just go since it wasn’t fenced. I dont think he’d run off, but with that many people there I’d hate for him to get spooked or someone try to take him. There was one really weird guy that came up to us and set a frisbee on his head like a hat. It slid off and the guy lunged at the fisbee swatting Brutie in the face. It startled Brutie and he looked at me like “what the heck is wrong with him mom” - I told the guy to take it easy and we made our way.
A photo gallery has been added for today’s event. Make sure to stop by and check out the other dogs we saw and more saint pictures.

What a fun day! Tell your son he did really well with the photos, too!

Looks like a pretty cool event but it’ll probably be too hot for me! But still, I can still jump on that nice lake. Wheeee!!! I hope you guys had a fun time.

Thanks Barking… i will let him know. He really enjoys photography and would like to take a class or two on it. I am so sad we didn’t take Rufus too. Brutus was a real hit with his barrel.
It was hot Amber.. but there was water to swim in! A lot of the dogs got wet then walked around so it wasn’t as bad for them. We didn’t stay too terribly long because of the heat. There were several tents and shelters set up for them to get out of the sun too which was nice.
Great pics, Brutus looks so handsome!

Beautiful, beautiful photos of beautiful dogs.
Brutus looks so nice. But it seems to be very hot for the dogs. Lucky there was water so they could go swimming for a while.
I often say that I´m in heaven when I see that much saints in one place. So you can surely understand how I felt when I was at the kennel where Evita comes from. 8 BIG Saints, the breeder has got in her house. Yes, that I call Heaven
Thanks Emily, I think he was the most handsome boy there.. but I’m not biased…lol
Lots of lovely large dogs!
What a fabulous day! Your son did a good job with the photo’s too. You have so many doggy things going on where you live. I’m off to the shelter I was in before Mum and Dad came to take me home, I’m gonna show them how well i’m doing (muzzle off!) so I’ll see other dogs today too.
Love George

Sounds like a fun day. I love bringing Ace to events like that with so many other dogs around. I can’t believe there were so many other saints there!
Thanks Teija… It was heaven for me too! It was so exciting to see all those saints in one place. I was glad there was water too. I contemplated going with him because of the heat and only decided to take him because of the water. Brutus loved it.. he wanted to stand in it forever. Had my leash been longer, he would have swam off.
Thank you for your comment Nona. Hope to see you around again
Hi George. I bet they were so proud of you at the shelter! im proud of you and how far you have come in such a short time. You are a very lucky pooch indeed to have landed on your feet with your humans, they love you so much.
HAHAHA Jan… you have NO idea how many times I heard that! I got the barrels so people would stop asking where it was. Now I need a sign for him to wear that says “its empty, mom drank it all.”
It is a working cask and I could put liquid in it, but I think it would be pretty heavy.
I love going to events too. Its great socialization for the dogs and they enjoy the bonding time. I think its a win - win for both parties
saints really do look very impressive in large groups, i want to give them all top hats

Top hats… lol Now I’d like to see that!
Thanks for the comment Daisy. I am really surprised that there arent a zillion parks in the UK since it is so green and everyone seems so much more dog friendly than here.
It’s really cool that you live in an area that is so dog friendly. I have to say though, that’s quite a crowd for me! LOL
What a great day!!
Your guys are handsome.
Blessings!

Ducan looks so beautiful! She is a smooth coat? I was looking for a smooth coat Saint Bernard when we got Baylee but when I saw her picture I knew she was the one for us! We had to drive 5 hours to get her in Tennessee. She was only 6 weeks when we bought her home and just adorable. Sami treated her and still does like her pup. It’s so sweet!
Oh, Baylee says she is so jealous about Duncan being Brutus girlfriend!

Marie it was quite crowded. Due to Brutus’s hulking mass we were given an extra wide berth…
One of the benefits of having a giant dog. People like to admire from afar.
I will be sad when winter comes and we have to stay indoors. It gets sooo cold here and there is nothing fun to do out doors.
Thank you Baylor!
First off, Baylee will always be Rufus and Brutus’s NUMBER ONE GAL!! She was a new friend, and a girl so that made her a girl friend, honest! lol
My first saint was a smooth coat, like Duncan. There is a picture of him on the Bridge page. After he passed I waited for another smoothie to come into my life. But Brutus and Rufus came instead. They really, really needed me. I was choosen and the rest was history. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
No,no dog parks. Maybe there might be in London or somewhere but considering I live with 20 miles of 2 large cities (Leeds and Bradford) there are no dog parks.
Of course there are tons of municipal parks which of course is pretty good but a nice safe dog park would be good.
