What Dog Breed Are You?
If I were to guess purely from my own preferences, I would have to guess a Saint Bernard, of course. What would you be?
Authors Lori Lebda and Tami Bergeson graciously sent me a signed copy of their new book “What Dog Are You?” so I could find out. After scoring the personality test, I wound up pretty darn close to my initial guess!
A breed profile is comprised of 3 light-hearted personality quizzes with entertaining questions you answer as if you are a dog. After taking the quizzes the scores are tallied based on A-D multi-choice and Y-N answers. The key (in the back of the book) matches your score range and determines the breed you most closely resemble. My entire family took the quizzes tonight while we were waiting for our dinner to come at a restaurant. It was fun to discuss our answers as a group, it kept us honest… well, sort of. It was also fun to see how each of us had a delusional image of personality types… I guess our lives really have gone to the dogs. We even talk about them at dinner!
I scored a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in both Pooch-Onality and Dapper Dogs quizzes (my score was exactly the same
) and a Saluki in the Biscuits and Bones Quiz. My over all TOP DOG score was as a Great Dane! Ya’ think?
What does that all mean? You’ll just have to get your hands or paws on a copy of the book to find out! And just like Bill Cosby said in the Saturday morning Fat Albert cartoons, “Be careful, you just might learn something!” (about yourself) - I know I sure did!
Luckily, I was given a couple of extra signed copies to be given to my readers. To enter, respond to this post and tell me what dog breed you think you are. Winners will be drawn on Saturday, September 6 after Bark Park and posted on the blog. Make sure you get your entries in by Friday night to be eligible.
Don’t want to wait for the drawing? You can get your copy of this entertaining and thought provoking book at www.iamawhat.com and amazon.com.

Well, this is harder than I thought it would be!
I’d probably be a mutt of some sort, but I know that’s a cop-out!
I’m pretty happy to sit around on the couch and relax, so maybe a Greyhound.
But then again, I only run when absolutely necessary, so maybe not.
I’m very curious, so maybe a sniffy-hound of some sort… perhaps a Beagle? But again, I’m toooo low energy!
I also really like to learn, so maybe a Border Collie? Again, I’d be the laziest BC on the planet!
(I know, I’m really stereotyping here with my breeds!)
I really can’t think of a breed lazy enough to be me. I think I’d have to go with being a very laid back, couch potato Greyhound, perhaps with a dash of Basset Hound! See, I can’t resist the mixed breed thing!

I think Great Dane is kinda cool! I don’t know what my Mommy is but I hope she is a golden too. Hehehe!

Hmmm. That’s a tough one. I’d have to go with a German Shorthaired Pointer–loyal, athletic, and diverse.

The longer I live with Chels, the more Im convinced I must of been a Dane in a past life… mischief, lazy, hyper, lovable. Looks damn haughtly when she wants to though I can put on being as elegant as her…

Hmmm…
I would like to think I would be an australian shepherd because I like things to be in control, have lots of energy, and use to be very athletic (working on getting back into shape:)). I also like their intelligence and beauty but not sure I fit those characteristics
I sure hope we get drawn to win the book but if not I will be picking up a copy.
Thanks for sharing!!

What fun! (Great Danes are my favorite!)
I have to think I would probably be … a standard poodle. Smart (usually), friendly, fun. Playful too. (I’ve never had a standard poodle. We had a teacup poodle when I was a kid - he was NOT smart!)

Oh well I’d be a collie if I could be any dog breed at all! LOL but then I already am a collie!
You have some very cute pictures here!
gosh, that’s a hard question! On those 10 question, short, easy dog quizzes, I usually end up being some breed like a Golden Retriever. I guess that matches me some; I have blonde hair anyway! lol! And I’m friendly to people too and like to be active sometimes.
I might be more like a Mastiff or Great Pyrenees too I guess; I don’t usually like people right off the bat, but once I get to know them, I greatly enjoy their company.
My energy level is probably similar to a Dane’s. I’m content to take a nap or do nothing all day; or go for a hike, swim, ride a bike too! Can’t think of any other breeds I’m too much like. Does that mean maybe a mutt is what I’m most like? lol!
Well, Biggie would be easy if the book has “kuvasz” as a choice, because he is a classic kuv.
Me? Dominant but low key, athletic but not hyper. Can be intense at times and can survive on little sleep. Some kind of working dog, for sure. I’m probably a German Shepherd or a poodle because of the swimming.

Well, I, of course have to say a Newfie… but I don’t know– I don’t have the drool thing going (not yet anyway). But I do like to exercise for a short period and then be laid back the rest of the day.
Anyway thanks making us all think!
Oohh fun! I think I’m alot like my Shelties, but I’m definitely not as pretty to look at!

Sooooooo ….. I’m gonna just pretend I didn’t just check myself then ….. and I reckong I am a ………. Heeler!

I find it interesting how each breed of dogs seem to have differeneces in personality along with individual dogs. Baylee our Saint seem to be the most loving and cuddly dog for being so large of a breed. While our golden Sami is loving but not much cuddly type but playful. Both dogs have such unique personalities. They will both come up to us when we aren’t paying attention to them and nudge under our arms to get our attention, really it is just so sweet! My sister has a little dog and it thinks it one big bad dog!

Love the anti-spam word… I’m guessing I would be a golden retriever since I want everyone to be happy and try to take care of everyone…
I would definitely be a Bloodhound. I have a pretty good sniffer. I also have a way of figuring things out that should not be…..this is a fair warning to my children: Momma always knows and will find out. And to Luci: I know it’s you passing gas over there in the corner…..Don’t try to blame it on the baby, okay? Dog farts are more distinct than you think ole girl!
i think i’d be a harlequin great dane, they often seem to look both puzzled and amused

I’m not sure exactly, what breed I would be. I would be someone, who is moody in the morning and doesn’t like being woken up. Someone, who likes their own space and is not keen on crowds of people. So if you know, let me know.
I would have to say Labrador (obviously!). I am very energetic, love to be outside and I love swimming. With 2 children to look after, I am also very good at retrieving
! Sometimes I get a bit excited and need a time out to calm down
. I am generally friendly towards everyone but anyone who hurts me or mine… they’d better keep their distance
. I love to play with the children and other dogs and I am a very hard worker when I need to be. I love crazy labs

Im convinced i was a border collie in a past life

although theyre smart animals they do the dafftest of things!
although the amount i dribble at night i could have been a Border collie cross st bernard…
If I’m not a Poodle there is something seriously wrong with the test. So I should get a copy of the book to make sure it is scientifically valid.

I would probably be a lab. I love being active and outside, and I get along well with everyone. I also love the water.

I would love to be my Chihuahua - very wise and intelligent or my Westie - strong and determined but I’m not. I am like my Shih-tzu soft and stupid, incredibly stubborn with selective hearing, lots of energy for things I like and feet stuck to the floor when it’s something I don’t want to do. So no offence Zak my beautiful Shih-tzu I would be a Shih-tzu
Hi Lora - this will make you laugh…. Mumma did the dogster test and she’s…ready for it…..
a Chihuahua! I rolled around laughing, you couldn’t get much further away from her attraction to large breeds….your thoughts please, I am confused by her. Imagine if she turned into a dog, i could carry her around in a back pack (I think there is a funny post in the making here)
I’m still laughing about her disclose and could be for days.
I of course AM a dog already and I’d like to take the ‘what kind of human would you be test’
Anyway, please put our answers in the hat…..
Love as Always

Strangely, most of the what breed are you tests online put me as a Greater Swiss too! Thats probably pretty accurate. I’m as laid back as they come, friendly and affectionate, loyal and BIG. Hahaha.

I would just be ANY rescue and come and live with you!
I would love to be a Pomeranian so small, cute and playful.
I’ve taken some of those what kind of dog would you be tests and I alway come out as a collie. The reasons fit I think. They say I’m a loyal friend (aren’t all dogs) and I work hard and get hurt easily when I’m not appreciated. It fits pretty good, so I say a Collie.
