Paws in the Pool - Groveport

Posted by Saint Lover

I just got back from a long walk with Brutus and Rufus.  They are wiped out along with Zeus and Apollo from their trip to Paws in the Pool at the Groveport Aquatic Center tonight.  For the past 4 years the Aquatic Center opens the doors to the local K-9’s for a play date in the pools after it is closed for the season and before they drain it for the winter.  We have gone the past two years and its been great. B and R went two years ago and that is where I made the decision that I had to keep them together.  I almost took them tonight and was planning on it but the timing around picking my son up from his golf match really stinks.  I basically ran out the door and the first two dogs that ran out with me got to come, Zeus and Apollo. That’s OK, there is another Paws in the Pool at the Gahanna pool on Sunday afternoon!  Perfect.  If B and R don’t go to Bark Park, they will get to go to Paws in the Pool.

My son had the camera and even though I told him not to mess around with the settings, he did!  So most of the pictures did not turn out and I am really sad.  Here’s a couple that did turn out.

Those two were jumping fools!  They dove in after the bumper over and over and over again!  At one point a 1 yo chocolate Newfie pup hooked up with them and they were running around playing.  Zeus and Apollo jumped in and the pup went in after them having no idea the water was well, water.  He ran right after them, plopped in and sunk!  He couldn’t get himself out so I had to grab his collar and drag him out.  What a silly goofy boy!

There are lots of fun dog activities we can attend this weekend so we will no doubt be busy.  I am sure the dogs will be happy since they haven’t had much to do lately and are getting a bit stir crazy.

I am eagarly awaing my newest collar purchase!  Karma Charms is having a 10% off sale so I broke down and bought this gorgeous martingale collar for Hera.  I think she is going to look absolutely stunning and so girly looking too.  Karma Charms specializes in big dog goodies!  You can check it out at Karma Charms.

Our local pool has a doggy swim day too! It’s saturday. Too bad Dylan is mean and can’t go! I took Marley before and it was too much for her. She did not want to go in the pool with all those crazy labs!! LOL So we won’t be going this year!!

    Looks like you had fun!!

    What an awesome idea!!!

The small rural town I live in does not have a pool but there are some other nearby towns who do. May have to contact them to see if they would be interested…

Love the photos and will be checking out the collars.

    Blessings!

That is a great idea. The pictures are good, he’s learning and the only way to learn is to find out what works in a photo so good for you to let him try.

That looks like a lot of fun. Ace would love that. The pools around here do the same thing at the end of the season but we weren’t able to make it. Someone should open up a public dog pool! Can you imagine trying to maintain that?

LOL Amber Mae - I’ll kidnap you this time next year ;)

There were even adults that were jumping in the deep end with their dogs. It was quite a free for all. We had so much fun.

Christy, events like that are not for every dog. In fact, its not for most dogs. It was even a little bit too much for Zeus. He had the nasty runs from stress. I almost made him leave. He won’t go back next year. Iron gut Hera will go in his stead. There were too many tiny, little dogs for B and R even though it was designated as BIG DOGS over 40 pounds only.

Thats a great idea Baylor! It could become the doggie event of the summer!

Thanks Jan, he has a really good eye for content. He just needs to learn how to use the camera. One of these days he may be a really great photographer.

Thanks Sew Crazy.. We did have a wonderful time!

Good lucky Abbey! It would be awesome to see Chels getting to enjoy such a fun event.

Lindsay, I can not even imagine the filter system they would have to use to maintain the hair and bacteria. We missed the 2nd pool event yesterday in Gahanna by going to Bark Park instead.

did they go on the slide?!

    K9 Amigas last blog post..Did You Know…

  16. Saint LoverNo Gravatar

Nope, no slide Amiga. I could hardly keep them out of the lap pool. As soon as i would pull them out they would jump right back in. I think most of the fun was just the jump itself. I did try to get Apollo to go off the diving board, but he got out half way and it got too springy and he came running back. Had it been stiffer, he would have definitely jumped off it.

I really wish there were water activities around here for the dogs. We have the Rio Grande, but I wouldn’t ever let my dogs step paw in that river…..so totally gross!

And I love that KC collar. I’m so pleased with Willow’s :)

Wow! That looks like so much fun. I’ve never seen a dog-friendly public pool, although I do know of some dog beaches. We have a favourite one we love going to and it’s great to see all the dogs playing together, running along the beach and swimming in the surf. One little terrier there loves a daily surf on his owner’s surfboard!

Zoo - I’d be afraid of the snakes around there too…

Oh WOW Donna.. I would love to see the dogs romping on a beach. We are so far away from a beach it isnt even funny. I suppose I could go to Lake Erie.. that’s sort of like the ocean and only 2 1/2 hrs away. That surfer dog sounds awesome.
