FIRE!
So the other day I was saying nothing was really going on and we were bored, well…..
I am about to kill Rufus! I was out to lunch with my son and get a call from my husband about 3 minutes after we sit down. Apparently the moment we left the house Rufus decided to help himself to something on the counter and managed to turn on the stove and knock over a few things. The sweatshirt that was folded up on the counter caught fire and the fire alarms went off.
Hubby was upstairs sleeping and thought I had burned something I was cooking… (im not that bad of a cook dear) and when he opened the door smoke was everywhere and Brutus and Rufus were desperately trying to get in the bedroom.
There were flames about 3 feet high and he was able to smother it and douse it with water. There’s alot of smoke damage and some melted stuff here and there but the stove wasnt too damaged. The front of my microwave was melted and will need to be replaced. GRRRRRR!
Luckily he was home of the whole house would have gone up in flames and I would have lost all my dogs. I am so upset and now terrified to ever leave the house again. I have to re Rufus proof my house now! Well off to put on my grubbies and try to clean up the mess.
OH my god!!! Naughty Rufus, I am so glad it was nothing more serious…at least everyone is safe and alive xx

So sorry about your kitchen! But poor Rufus, I’m sure he feels really bad. Is he in the dog house for life? Haha…Thank goodness they were not there alone. That would have been a tragedy.

Oh my goodness! I’m so glad your husband caught it before it was too late and that he was home. How scary! Love the little devil picture too…naughty Rufus! One of my biggest irrational fears is that the house will catch on fire when I’m gone and Nala will be stuck. I hate to even think about it but I am a little OCD before I leave the house and make sure everything is turned off just in case.
Well, hope there’s not too much to repair!

Oh, how frightening! Thank goodness your husband was home! And I totally get being afraid of leaving the house again after something like that. I’m a little (ha!) neurotic about it anyway, and I worry far too much about what Dannan will get into, but after something like that, I’d become a hermit! Rufus, you mustn’t do such things, you’ll give your Mom a coronary! I’m so glad that the damage was limited!

YIKES!!! I am just glad it wasn’t worst coz if it was, I wouldn’t even know what to do if I was in that situation too. I would go berserk as how the boys were! Rufus dear, please b MORE careful okay? We’re just glad none of you were burned.

Oh wow! That is a scary thing to have happen! Naughty dog! I’ve had my cats get up on counters and knock stuff around, but actually turning on the stove and burning something… I’ve never considered that happening!

How scary! I’m so glad that no one was hurt! We had a small kitchen fire once when we were first married, and it made a terrible mess to clean up. Had to wash down all the walls in the whole place because of the smoke. I don’t envy your clean up!

That’s scary! I’m so glad no people or dogs were hurt. Imagine what could have happened. This is a good reminder for me to make sure my house is pet-proof. It also reminds me that I shouldn’t feel bad when I leave Ace in his kennel. At least he can’t get into trouble. But, if there ever is a fire while he’s in his kennel, he’d be trapped. That’s even scarier than him starting a fire.
Anyway, I’m so glad you’re all OK.

I’m glad everyone is okay. Bad Rufus, Bad Rufus! My dogs have never done anything to that magnitude. It’s the usual stuff- front door blows open because the house shifted, dad’s in the shower, mom’s not home……let’s go for a two mile walk down the ski-doo trail…………..on a very windy, cold day……
Wow! That is so scary. Poor Rufus has no idea what he did, I’m sure. I know I’m not very good at connecting the dots unless it means I get a cookie for my efforts. I’m so glad all of you were okay.
