Welcome Home… NOT!

Posted by Saint Lover

I am having the most ridiculous morning!  After driving round trip to Chicago for the expo with no mishaps, why is it that my first morning back THIS happens????

I bought the most amazing Paco working lead at the expo (thank you very much Karma Charms) and it is one of the fancy ones that has clips on both ends (I’ll have to blog about it in a few days… you’ll love the name). I thought I was going to be slick this morning and hook up Brutus to one end and Rufus to the other to take them outside. Good idea, right?! Well…. it wasnt!

A stupid wild bunny raced out of the “yard” (no fence) into the bushes at the corner of the property. Of course, B and R were at the bottom of the steps when they saw it (I was at the top) and started pulling. I held on for dear life and tried pulling them back towards the house. Rufus started to come back up the steps and that damn bunny turned around and came back! What an idiot!

Both of them took off, I was still holding on. They pulled me off the steps and to the ground. Still holding on, I am dragged a few feet. I can no longer hold on and am in absolute agony – they ran off. Luckily the leash that had them tethered together clothes-lined a swing set and they were stuck like chuck. I was able to hobble over and grab them and make them go back inside with out any other collateral damage. I was soooo mad!

My knee is in pretty bad shape and I am on the couch with it propped up w/ ice. I can barely walk and the swelling and bruising is unreal…. welcome home! grrrr

And can you believe one of my friends told me I should get rid of them because they are so big?!  AS IF! I could have just as easily tripped over a chihuaha and done a header down the stairs.

I’m so sorry about your injury, but would I be a horrible person to have laughed at your description of the incident. You’re right…size doesn’t matter with dogs. I got pulled off my feet by a Chihuahua a few years ago and was incapacitated for quite a while. The Expo pictures are great.

Oh, we hope your knee is feeling better! How painful! :( Those silly rabbits are little trouble makers!

Oh no!! Please keep an eye on your knee and think about a trip to the emergency room. A shot or two might make you feel so much better.

I have one of those leash things too. In fact, I think I have two. Anyway, I use it on occasion, but don’t use it often. I feel like I have more control using two leashes rather than one. When they’re hooked together, its kind of like “them” vs. “me” as opposed to “ME” being in charge.

Take care, get rest, see the doctor!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment Shih Tzu Groomer! I think that was the worst tumble i have taken because of them. My knee is still healing and its been slow going. But they are worth it… I just know for next time not to hook them up together… they are like a freight train!lol. Hope to see you around again.
